Please note that it’s not necessary for you to choose a type of service before your appointment. Each treatment is customized and I may choose to incorporate one or more of the following modalities.
ashiatsu barefoot massage therapy
A type of massage therapy in which the practitioner balances herself using parallel bars mounted on the ceiling and massages the client with her feet. Strokes are compressive, broad, consistent and flowing – giving the sensation of being massaged by very large hands. Tissues are left feeling invigorated, yet deeply relaxed.
myofascial release (MFR)
Using the principles learned in the John Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach, this treatment uses no lubricant and involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions for a prolonged period of time to eliminate pain and restore motion. what is fascia?
swedish massage
A form of massage therapy that concentrates on long and soothing strokes to increase blood flow. Swedish massage has been shown to reduce pain, improve circulation, ease joint stiffness, and increase range of motion. Because it can help tissues release uric acid, lactic acid, and other waste products, it assists in muscle recovery after strain.
deep tissue massage
A form of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It focuses on deeper pressure designed to release chronic muscle tension or to address a specific problem.
‘mini’ massage
This massage is aimed towards children of all ages, whether they be infants, toddlers, teens and every stage in between. Children develop the sense of touch long before they develop the other senses. They thrive on attention, and one of the best ways to convey that attention is through touch. A gentle massage conveys comfort, approval and warmth. Children have been known to benefit extensively from massage therapy if they suffer from hyperactivity disorders or other psychiatric problems.
pre + post-natal massage
Massage therapy offers many benefits to new moms or moms-to-be. This may include relief from muscular discomfort and stress, increased circulation, and decreased swelling. Comfort and relaxation will be the focus while positioning and pressure can be tailored to meet each mom’s needs. Pregnancy massage is beneficial throughout the entire nine months of the pregnancy; however, if you are having a high risk pregnancy, it is best to discuss your condition with your midwife or physician before seeking a massage.
